NotHoly for VS Code

Conversations, explicit selected context and reviewed local changes in the editor.

Install version 0.1.0

Download the VSIX, compare its SHA-256 with the release manifest, then install it locally in VS Code 1.144 or later. This is a direct package distribution; no Marketplace publication is claimed.

Shell
code --install-extension notholy-vscode-0.1.0.vsix

Open and authenticate

Run NotHoly: Open Conversation from the Command Palette, then NotHoly: Sign In with API Key. Credentials are stored in VS Code SecretStorage separately for each API origin. Use NotHoly: Configure API Origin for an explicit endpoint; workspace settings cannot silently redirect it.

Conversation and selected files

Choose an available model and mode. Send with the button or Ctrl/Cmd+Enter. History reopens existing branches; reconnect follows the same run. Attaching a file or selection requires an explicit confirmation naming its destination. No whole-workspace crawl or automatic upload occurs.

Reviewed local changes

Trusted workspaces can open a native diff for an authorized patch artifact. Applying it requires a separate confirmation; dirty buffers and concurrent disk changes block the write. Local context and changes stay within the selected workspace. The editor exposes no arbitrary shell execution bridge.

Scopes and funding

The complete editor workflow uses models:read, usage:read, sessions:read, runs:read, runs:write, chat:write, approvals:write, artifacts:read and artifacts:write. Server-side admission, entitlement, membership and key caps still apply. Subscription CU is the default; API-wallet funding is a separate explicit choice.

Verified platform boundary

Windows VS Code 1.144 passed an actual extension-host test suite against a loopback fixture without provider calls. Remote SSH, devcontainers, macOS and Linux were not executed in that verification; browser-only virtual workspaces are unsupported. Fixture tests do not certify every platform or runtime capability.
